DR. H. WAYNE SPRINGFIELD - SOUTHWESTERN RANGE ECOLOGIST - ECOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP BENEFACTOR

DR. H. WAYNE SPRINGFIELD
Southwestern Range Ecologist
July 24, 1920 - June 19, 2013

SUMMARY

Carol and and I were honored to know Dr. Wayne Springfield at Sun Grove Resort Village in Peoria, Arizona. Dr. Springfield had a wonderful sense of humor and loved telling stories about his interesting life of living in the southwestern desert studying plants and animals. Dr. Springfield was an accomplished Ecologist who wrote many articles and books on how to improve crop production in the desert environment.

Dr. Springfield kept his identity hidden because he did not want the apartment manager to charge him an outlandish rent amount, which was often the case, because he was wealthy. Dr. Springfield donated many millions of dollars to the universities he attended as scholarship monies for studies who majored Range Management and Plant Ecology. His scholarship fund is "HARRY WAYNE SPRINGFIELD ENDOWMENT."

I had the honor of helping Dr. Springfield communicate to scientists all over the world about the problem of "Global Warming." Dr. Springfield was instrumental in getting the NOBEL PEACE PRIZE awarded to Al Gore. Dr. Springfield and his wife never had any children but his most chariest accomplishments was helping his kids at his favorite universities afford an education with the hope of saving the planet.

Dr. H. Wayne Springfield was
a true Arizona Hero.
